New Moon in Aquarius
A New Lunar Cycle Guide Feb 17 - March 17
Welcome! I am so excited to share with you how I use the moon each month.
This guide will be published on each new lunar cycle beginning on the new moon. Also, it will be filled with the moon phases of the month and tips to maximize rest, taking action and celebrating your achievements. Your natal moon sign is your key to understanding what you need to feel emotionally fulfilled, and how to best nurture yourself. Getting to know the moon as they change every few days is a good way to see and feel the “mood” of the day. I work with the moon phases to show me when I need to rest, reflect or move on my inspiration. I love the moon!
What is a Lunar Cycle?
There are approximately 27-29 days in each lunar cycle. The moon will go through 8 phases and change zodiac signs every 2-2.5 days. Aspects to other planets can provide more context on the vibe but getting to see how you feel and some basic tips I have used during each phase you can use or follow your intuition. There are so many layers in astrology when it comes to aspects (relationships to other planets), and so much more. To make this simple I am only working with the moon and some potential auspicious placements. Always use your discernment and trust your intuition! I am sharing my experience and what has worked for me, so feel free to pass if it is not for you. The main goal here I want to share is that learning how you feel with the moon provides another tool to guide your intentions, add to your self-care routines and any healing or your own spiritual practices. If you are one that has a menstrual cycle, then you are heavily influenced by the moon and its phases.
How to find your Moon Sign if you don’t know it:

Fun Fact: If you were born under a New Moon, chances are you love spontaneity. You love to take a risk and jump head first. You could be impulsive or restless. When you are at your best you are a great leader much like Aries energy, taking initiative. New moon people love to start over and start new things. But they can get bored, so taking time before making decisions or launching something new is ideal.
VIBE for this New Moon Cycle:
This cycle begins with the new moon in Aquarius on February 17th.
Aquarius Vibe: The energy I feel with Aquarius is forward thinking, innovative and a special love for the collective. They think outside the box, can detach pretty well from emotions which makes their logic game strong. I admire Aquarians for their unique style and their ability to hold space for others.
This is also a solar eclipse, New Lunar year (Fire Horse energy), and Mercury Retrograde coming on the 26th! Lots going on. A lot of people in the astrology space will say don’t manifest or do intentions during eclipses. The energy is heavy, but I like to ALWAYS say follow your intuition. The way I use eclipses is to observe and take note. Eclipses bring endings, beginnings and most of these things are fated and part of our destinies. So I rather see what it brings and work with it! I accept what breakthroughs if any come and I also accept what needs to be torn down. So be open minded!
I pulled a card to see what collective message Spirit has for us.
Patience is the message. Just like the phases of the moon, we have phases in life and sometimes they need to unfold and play out before we can get that thing we want. So we are being encouraged to embrace divine timing. Not wait impatiently, but know that things are unfolding as they should and we are where we are supposed to be.
Because eclipses can typically feel heavy, I created a mini 5 minute meditation on my last post. So please take a moment or a few moments to ground yourself with it. I infused Reiki healing energy specifically to release blocks, and tension in the root chakra area.
Message from Spirit if you are an Aquarius Moon:
A new career path is on its way to you. Someone may come your way very soon that could lead to a new financial opportunity. Spirit says this is a risk worth taking. Don’t talk to too many people about it to talk you out of it. Trust your inner knowing. You don’t need a second set of ears or eyes. This is your confirmation to go after it!
Let’s get into the phases!
New Moon Phase: February 17th
A New Moon brings “potential”. A time to plant seeds typically.
This new moon will be in Aquarius and it’s a solar eclipse that kicks off the new axis of Leo/Aquarius energy. I work differently with eclipse energy. Unlike writing intentions or manifesting, I instead observe what comes up. Eclipses bring fated events, endings and beginnings. We may even experience some breakthroughs with Aquarius energy. I like to gather what I learn during an eclipse slowly and take time for rest. Go with what feels right and best to you.
Tips for this phase: Always always trust your intuition first. But journal what comes up for you. If you feel lead to set intentions after a breakthrough do it.
Crescent Phase: February 20th
This phase begins with the Moon in Aries
During this phase it is like the moon begins to peak with a slight sliver. After an eclipse things may feel a little cloudy, or maybe clear depending on how it affects you.
Tips for this phase: I like to see what comes up from the New Moon. This is where the momentum is building normally but check in with yourself. If you feel called to write some intentions you can do that.
First Quarter Phase: February 24th
This moon phase begins with the moon in Gemini.
Vibe: This is where we have to trust any intuitive nudges! If you feel called to take action on an intention, do it. Be curious but trust where your intuition is guiding you.
Tips for this phase: This is where we have to trust any intuitive nudges! If you feel called to take action on an intention, do it. This is a time to trust any inspiration that leads you to take small steps.
Waxing Gibbous Phase: February 27th
This moon phase begins with the moon in Cancer. It is also trining with Mercury in Pisces and Venus in Pisces. This is a sweet combination!
Vibe: What seeds have begun taking shape, if any? Have your intentions changed at all? This is a time to review and refine anything.
Tips for this phase: Take action steps that are inspired. Inspired action is key during a waxing phase. Do what feels right.
Full Moon Waning Phase: March 3rd
This full moon will be in Virgo.
Vibe: Full moons illuminate! So what aha moments arrive during this time? What did you learn? Celebrate any wins or intentions that manifested. Journal about what did not, because guess what? You can always start over on another new moon! Virgo energy always has me thinking about creating lists, or switching up a routine.
Tips for this phase: I like to release what no longer serves me from this cycle. But I like to write a gratitude list of what came forth during this cycle as well. Since we are feeling a big shift of energy with the eclipse you may feel heavy or with extra emotions. REST! If you don’t do anything else, please rest.
Disseminating Phase (Waning): March 6th
This phase begins with the moon in Libra.
Vibe: This is a time as the moon starts to wane, reflecting on everything since the new moon. What is out of balance in your life currently? Where can you make some shifts?
Tips for this phase: Share what you learned! Write about, blog about, talk to your bestie. Sharing knowledge or your wisdom is key.
Third Quarter or Last Quarter Phase (Waning): March 11th
This phase begins with the moon in Sagittarius
Vibe: Do some reflection on the insights you received. Take some to rest and observe and process. Not too much doing or taking actions on intentions (unless you feel called of course), but more reviewing. With the moon in Sagittarius, you may feel more called to explore and change direction. Go where that energy pulls you. Want to learn something new? Want to revise your path?
Tips for this phase: I like to write about what worked and what did not. Any real lessons or blessings that occurred if any. Sometimes I do nothing. Rest is required! Take time out for rest.
Balsamic or Waning Crescent Phase: March 15th
This phase begins with the moon in Aquarius. It is also sextiling Venus in Pisces.
Vibe: This is the last phase before the next new moon. This is a time to reflect and maybe dream or plan (not do!) for the next cycle. A time where we somewhat have one foot in the past (reflecting) and one foot in the future (wanting to manifest).
Tips for this phase: Let go of the past! I was born during this phase so I tend to hold on to things longer than I should. So release what you don’t need and what you do not want to be a block before that next new moon. Rest rest rest!
Special Moon Aspect Days:
Moon in Taurus sextiling Sun in Pisces February 22nd
Moon in Cancer Trine Sun in Pisces February 26th
Moon in Scorpio Trine Sun in Pisces March 8th
Moon in Aquarius Sextiling Venus in Aries March 15th
I hope you enjoyed this guide and see how powerful working with the moon intentionally with each phase will help you understand your personal rhythm and how it syncs with the phases and rhythm of the moon. She is a beautiful tool to add to your own personal self-care routine!

Thank you for the guide
The moon falls into my 3rd house conjunction my south node. A lot of ending in my communication and new beginnings also. I started my substack yesterday I completely forgot about the new moon. I also found your substack yesterday along with other black women's substack and I feel at home 🙏🏾
